Sri Lankan Holidays, Simplified — One Calendar for Everyone

Sri Lanka is a country where time is shaped by tradition.
Religious observances, cultural festivals, national days, and full moon Poya days don’t just mark dates — they shape how we live, work, travel, and rest.

Yet every year, many of us still end up asking the same questions:

  • Is this a public holiday?
  • Is this a Poya day or a mercantile holiday?
  • Why does my phone calendar not show Sri Lankan holidays correctly?

That’s exactly why I decided to create and freely share Sri Lankan holiday calendars in .ics format — so anyone can add them to their device in seconds and never worry again.

Why .ics Files?

An .ics file is a universal calendar format supported by almost every modern device and app:

  • iPhone / iPad (Apple Calendar)
  • Android phones
  • Google Calendar
  • Outlook
  • macOS and Windows calendars

Once imported, the holidays appear automatically inside your existing calendar — no extra apps, no ads, no tracking, no subscriptions.

You stay in control.

The Problem I Wanted to Solve

Most available holiday calendars are either:

  • Locked behind apps
  • Incomplete or inaccurate
  • Not updated yearly
  • Filled with unnecessary permissions or ads

As someone who values clean systems and simple solutions, I wanted something better:

  • Accurate Sri Lankan public holidays
  • Easy to update every year
  • Free and open for everyone
  • Works on any device

So I built it — and shared it openly.

A Free Resource for All Sri Lankans 🇱🇰

Why I’m Sharing This Openly

Sri Lankan holidays belong to everyone.
Access to accurate, well-structured information should not be gated or monetized.

This is a small contribution — but one that saves time, reduces confusion, and helps people plan their lives a little better.

If it helps even one person avoid a missed holiday or a scheduling mistake, it’s worth it.

If You Find It Useful

  • Share it with others
  • Bookmark the repository
  • Use it every year
  • Contribute improvements if you’re technically inclined

Sometimes, the simplest tools make the biggest difference.

Built with care. Shared with purpose. For Sri Lanka.
